e-GEOS, togheter with its australian partner Geospatial Intelligence Pty Limited, has recently won an international tender to provide its services to AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority) whose objective is to to monitor the marine environmental safety. AMSA's request was for a service provider capable of supplying an oil spill monitoring and surveillance service, based on SAR (synthetic aperture radar) technology.
AMSA’s aim is to have a routine monitoring of specific maritime areas of interests (such as commercial routes or off-shore platforms) and to better coordinate emergency operations in the event of an oil spilling incident.
e-GEOS, with its partner Geospatial Intelligence Pty Limited can provide assistance to AMSA to:
• Monitor and detect illegal vessel-sourced pollution for compliance purposes
• Confirm suspected oil spill incidents
• Rapidly evaluate and deploy for oil spill response purposes
• Carry out experimental assessment of other potential capabilities, including for search and rescue
The COSMO-SkyMed constellation of radar sensors can acquire images indipendently of the weather and light conditions and allows for efficent monitoring through its short revisit times.
The partnership with Geospatial Intelligence Pty Limited and AMSA is a significant milestone for e-GEOS in the Australian space market, and showcases the reliability of italian company in the Earth observation field.
